According to PhoneRadar, the new variant will be called the OnePlus 3T. It will be powered by a 2.4GHz Snapdragon 821 processor [upgraded from Snapdragon 820 seen on the OnePlus 3]. The new processor is expected to offers 10 percent improvement in overall performance. The OnePlus 3T is expected to sport the same metal uni-body design as the OnePlus 3. It will run the latest Android 7.0 Nougat-based Oxygen OS out-of-the-box. Also, it will come embedded with the Dash Charge technology.

There is no information about the launch date or price as yet. Previously, rumors of a OnePlus 3 mini variant were quashed by co-founder Carl Pei. The company also ditched its X series to focus on releasing one flagship smartphone a year. This decision was taken to protect the quality and maintain brand image. While the new variant seems like a move away from that philosophy, it does not come with any significant changes. The company might just be filling in the gap with an updated option for its consumers.
