This past E3, Capcom revealed Resident Evil 7 to the world. For the first time in franchise’s history, the game will take place entirely in first person. Resident Evil 7 looks to bring back the franchise back to its roots. But the game’s shift to first person has caused a stir among players who say the game doesn’t feel like a Resident Evil game any more. However, the series has all been about horror, so a shift in perspective shouldn’t bother people too much. Anyways, Capcom has kicked off a new set of trailers with the Resident Evil 7 Teaser Video Series.

Resident Evil 7 Teaser Video Series showcase some brand new stuff

The first video in the teaser series shows a ringing phone. When the player picks up the phone, a mysterious voice says “You shouldn’t have come here.”

Next video shows the player scrambling to an ammo box. Inside there is a shotgun and some ammo for it. Player chooses the shotgun and he is seen holding it in his hands seconds after choosing it in the ammo box.

Throughout the years, Resident Evil 7 has changed a whole lot. The franchise has shifted from survival-horror to action horror to Mario Party. And now the game has shifted to first person horror. But why this sudden shift. Well, the series has been having an identity crisis for quite a while. Back in the 90s, when the survival horror genre was having an identity crisis, it shifted to a third person cinematic look to lure gamers back. And now, with games like Outlast 2 and most horror games taking that route by default, Capcom appears to have finally made the decision to follow the trend.

We’ll see how it works out for Capcom. Stay tuned to MobiPicker for more news and updates about the Resident Evil 7 Teaser Video Series. More and more videos will be added to the series soon.
