Back in February of 2013. During the Design Communicate Innovate Entertain summit (DICE), there was a talk held. It was with CEO of Valve Gabe Newell and J J Abrams. Near the end, it was announced that both will be working with each other. They wanted to make movies based on Valve’s flagship franchises. Polygon later asked the producer of Bad Robots about it. He replied “It’s as real as anything in Hollywood ever get”.
He further added about bringing in a writer and try a lot of interesting ideas. Many in the community were skeptical because such projects in Hollywood rarely make it out of the planning stages. On top of that, Valve hadn’t released a new Half-Life game in six years. Much of the skepticism was well based. However, there’s good reason to believe that since then J J Abrams might have something substantial on him.
