Olympus has announced three new lenses, the M.Zuiko Digital ED 25mm F1.2 Pro, the M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-100mm F4 IS Pro, and the M.Zuiko Digital ED 30mm F3.5 Macro. The new lenses expand Olympus’s award-winning M.ZUIKO PRO lens lineup. The Olympus 25mm F1.2 Pro, 12-100mm F4 IS Pro, 30mm F3.5 Macro Lenses are priced at $1,199.99, $1299.99, and $299.99 in US.
Olympus 25mm F1.2 Pro
The new M.Zuiko Digital ED 25mm F1.2 Pro features Micro Four Thirds system. The optical design consists of 19 lens elements in 14 groups. It comes with the widest aperture setting of f/1.2.
The lens minimizes chromatic aberration at the plane of focus and beyond to create a smooth transition from the subject to defocused backgrounds. Olympus claims that the new lens offers ‘perfect balance between high resolution and beautiful bokeh for a natural, three-dimensional appearance of the subject‘.
The fixed-focal length Olympus 25mm F1.2 Pro [50mm focal length in 35mm equivalent] offers very fast auto-focus. It features a lightweight internal focusing mechanism that uses a single thin lens element for fast and accurate focus point acquisition. The lens uses advanced MSC [Movie and Still Compatible] auto-focus mechanism for silent and smooth focusing.
The Olympus 25mm F1.2 Pro features dust-proof, splash-proof and freezeproof construction. It will be available in October 2016.
Olympus 12-100mm F4 IS Pro
The M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-100mm F4 IS Pro is an all-around zoom lens. (24-200mm Equiv.) The versatile lens combines multiple special lens elements to produce a high magnification factor and excellent resolution.
The small lens combines DSA (Dual Super Aspherical) lenses, HR (high refractive index) lenses, and Super HR (super-high refractive index) lenses to correct aberration and minimize the number of lens elements. Multiple ED lenses, the color fringing is thoroughly reduced. It offers edge-to-edge sharpness across the entire zoom range.
The Olympus 12-100mm F4 IS Pro comes with Olympus’ in-body 5-Axis Image Stabilization [IBIS] that offers up to 6.5 stops of image stabilization. The 12mm end offers a minimum focus distance of 1.5cm, while the 100mm telephoto end can shoot at 27cm. The lens offers maximum shooting magnification of 0.6x (35mm equivalent) at the 12mm end.
The lightweight lens features a weatherproof construction which makes it dust-proof, splash-proof and freeze-proof. The Olympus 12-100mm F4 IS Pro will be available in November.
Olympus 30mm F3.5 Macro
The new premium lens is designed to offer great optical performance in a lightweight compact form. The Olympus 30mm F3.5 macro lens [35mm equivalent: 60mm] features Micro Four Thirds system. It is equipped with an MSC (Movie & Still Compatible) mechanism for silent and smooth auto-focus for both still shots and video.
The affordable macro lens features a maximum magnification of 2.5x (35mm equivalent). Olympus claims that the auto-focus on M.Zuiko Digital ED 30mm f3.5 Macro is faster than previous Olympus macro lenses by 20-30 percent.
The new lens comes with Olympus’ advanced in-camera image stabilization. To enhance macro performance, it uses the PEN-F and OM-D’s Focus Bracketing feature that allows you to automatically capture the entire focus range within a preset number of shots.
The Olympus 30mm F3.5 Macro is also compatible with select Olympus underwater housings and lens ports. It will be available in October 2016.
