Recently , the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones were spotted on Geekbench. The devices bearing respective serial numbers of SM-G930F and. SM-G935F were put through the benchmark test with Android 7.0. It looks like owners of Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge soon receive Google’s new Nougat software.

The device that went through benchmark test is powered by octa-core Exynos 8890 chipset not the one that features Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon 820 chip. The Galaxy S7 Edge models that are sold outside the U.S. and China are powered by Exynos 8890 chipset, PhoneArena reported.

The Android 7.0 Nougat is pegged to arrive first to unlocked versions of Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. Hence, the users of these devices in the U.S. will still have to wait for some time.

When Will Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge Receive Android 7.0 Nougat Update?

It is not officially announced when both the devices will receive the OTA updates. It is assumed that both S7 and S7 Edge will be getting the update together. The Galaxy Note 7 will also get the update soon.

In August, Samsung has confirmed that it will require two to three months to Note 7, GSMArena reported. Hence, it is likely that the Android 7.0 Nougat update for Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge would be arriving in October or November.

Android 7.0 Nougat Features

The Android 7.0 update comes with new features like split screen mode allows users to use two apps on the same screen. It can be viewed in portrait and landscape modes. Other improvements in Android 7.0 Nougat include notification panel redesign and enhanced doze mode that helps in power saving by switching to low power usage when phone is in standby mode.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge come with 12-megapixel rear cameras and 5-megapixel front facing cameras. The S7 Edge has a fingerprint sensor and comes packed with 3,600 mAh battery. The S7 also features a fingerprint reader and it includes a 3,000 mAh battery.
