On this occasion of 15th anniversary of its Lumix series of cameras, Panasonic has announced its full-metal compact camera with 4K support, the Panasonic LX10. The versatile compact camera is priced at US $699 and will arrive in November.
The Panasonic LX10 features a 1-inch, 20.1-megapixel sensor and a hybrid 5-axis optical image stabilization system. It comes with a 24-75mm f/1.4-2.8 fixed Leica lens. The new sensor is a great improvement over the LX7’s 10MP 1/1.7-inch sensor. The new sensor offers a maximum native sensitivity of ISO 12,800 (extendable to ISO 80-256000). The new camera can shoot 4K videos at 24, 25 and 30 fps. It is also capable if shooting full HD videos at 120fps.
The premium looking LX10 sports a full metal body. According to Panasonic, the compact camera is designed to fit in most jean pockets. The new 24-70mm f/1.4-2.8 Leica lens offers a minimum focusing distance of 3cm for macro shots. It uses aspherical elements. The lens’ iris is made up of nine aperture blades, which should allow you to capture a smooth bokeh.
In addition to the LX10, Panasonic also announced its Lumix FZ2500 camera. The bulky camera comes with a 1-inch 20-megapixel sensor and a 20-48mm, 20x zoom Leica lens.
