Epson has announced a new laser projector this week, called the Pro Cinema LS10500 Reflective Laser Projector. The new LS10500 follows the LS10000 from last year. It bears the same price tag of $8,000 as its predecessor. However, the new Epson LS10500 laser projector comes with HDR Support.

New Epson LS10500 Laser Projector With HDR Support Announced

The addition of High Dynamic Range (HDR) support means you will be able to play content from 4K Blu-ray players or HDR-encoded content from streaming services such as Netflix or Amazon Video. The Epson LS10500 offers 1,500 lumens of color brightness and 1,500 lumens of white brightness via a dual-laser light source. Its bulb can last for 30,000 hours. Also, the laser projector claims to cover the entire DCI color space.

Just like the LS10000, the new projector also comes with Epson’s 4K-enhancement [4KE] to project in Ultra HD. While the LS10500 is only equipped with a 1080p chip, it displays a 4K image by shifting pixels so they reach Ultra HD quality. As per reviews of LS10000, this pixel approximation by Epson is barely detectable by human eyes.

The Epson LS10500 offers a range of up to ± 90 percent on the vertical axis and ± 40 on the horizontal axis. It also comes with 10 presets for zoom, focus, and lens shift for both standard projection as well as wide cinema ratios. Other features include HDCP 2.2 support, an Absolute Black contrast ratio, and ISF-certified calibration tools.

The Epson Pro Cinema LS10500 Reflective Laser Projector will exclusively available through CEDIA and specialty dealers. It is expected to be released by the year end. A specific launch date is not available as of now.
