Looking for an affordable smartphone sporting Snapdragon chipset, lots of RAM, 1080p screen, and expandable storage? Well, we gathered some models fitting right into that description and tried to choose the best one of the bunch; stay with us and find out the winner of our latest specs clash – Lenovo K6 Note vs Redmi Note 3 vs Lenovo K6 Power.
Design
Lenovo K6 Power should soon arrive, offering 5-inch 1080p display coupled with a Snapdragon chipset. The phone follows recent design philosophy of Lenovo, with touch keys placed under the screen, camera placed on the upper middle part of the back, and a fingerprint sensor placed under the camera. The phone looks alright but suffers from “I saw that a hundred times already” problem. It’s simple, the K6 Power looks the same as other recent Lenovo phones, bringing nothing worthy of attention.
The similar case is with Lenovo K6 Note. Capacitive function key placed under the screen, a camera placed on the upper middle part on the backside, a fingerprint sensor placed under the camera, and a backside seen on lots of previous Lenovo models.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 also looks like a lot of other models coming from Xiaomi, and the placement of function keys, the camera, and a fingerprint sensor is the same as on two Lenovo models. The phone is relatively compact, for a 5.5-inch device, measuring 150 x 76 x 8.7 mm. Thin bezels and a slim profile are the best features of the Redmi Note 3. Aside from that, the design is on the verge of getting tiresome.
All in all, all three models look almost the same, so when picking one, the design shouldn’t play a large role.
Display, Hardware
Talking about displays, Lenovo K6 Note and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 feature 5.5-inch 1080p IPS displays, so you won’t go wrong with either of those two. If looking for a 5.5-inch device, both the K6 Note and the Redmi Note 3 are solid choices.
On the other side, we have Lenovo K6 Power, with its 5-inch 1080p IPS screen. Although smaller in size, it will provide better sharpness (441ppi pixel density compared to 401ppi pixel density of the Redmi Note 3 and Lenovo K6 Note). And since the display is an IPS LCD, viewing angles will be excellent; the same goes for the K6 Note and the Redmi note 3.
Hardware packed in the K6 Note and the K6 Power can be called above average. Both models feature Snapdragon 430 chipset (Octa-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 along with Adreno 505 GPU). Lenovo K6 Note offers 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM along with 32 GB of expandable storage. The K6 power comes in two flavors; 2 gigs of RAM couple with 16 GB of internal storage, and 3 GB of RAM with 32 GB of internal storage (Internal storage is expandable in both cases). Solid, but no more than that.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 packs Snapdragon 650 (4×1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 & 2×1.8 GHz Cortex-A72 coupled with Adreno 510) a chipset that can match the power of previous flagship models from Qualcomm (Snapdragon 800/801). If we add 2GB/16GB and 3GB/32GB (storage is expandable) to the formula, we get one serious powerhouse. With the Redmi Note 3 you’ll be able to play all of the recent games, and use the phone for almost any task imaginable, since Snapdragon 650 is one beast of a SoC.
Camera
Lenovo K6 power features a 13 MP main snapper capable of recording 1080p@30fps video; on the front, you’ll find an 8 MOP camera sensor, enough for everyday selfies.
Lenovo K6 Note comes with a more serious 16 MP main camera (dual-LED flash), also capable of recording 1080p@30fps video. Selfie one is the same (8 MP) as the one found on the K6 Power.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 features a 16 MP (f/2.0) main camera, with dual-LED flash, and 1080p@30fps video recording capability. Front facing camera has 5MP (f/2.0) and is capable of 1080-p video recording.
Battery
Lenovo positively surprised us with batteries placed in both the K6 Note and the K6 Power, offering a huge 4000 mAh battery on the K6 Power. 4000 mAh on a 5-inch device means your phone will be able to survive for up to three days without a charger.
Lenovo K6 Note has the same capacity battery; yes, the screen is larger but 4000 mAh is more than enough for a 5.5-inch device.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has a battery with the same capacity as other two models. As is the case with Lenovo K6 Note, the battery will be enough for at least two days of usage.
Looking solely at hardware specs, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is a clear winner. Snapdragon 650 is a beast in the mid-range segment, a large and bright screen is awesome for watching movies and TV shows on the go, and a big battery will make sure that you don’t experience your phone getting off in the middle of the day just because you watched movies and played games all day.
