It’s no secret that Hello Games ambitious open-universe survival game got a bad to a mixed reception from gamers and reviewers. Mainly because Sean Murray promised many features in the game that never made it to the final build. The small indie studio took on a big AAA project and, unsurprisingly, failed to deliver so we can’t say we weren’t expecting this entirely.
Previously we reported that No Man’s Sky player count had dropped by 90% on Steam within the first month. Steam, Amazon, and Sony are reportedly offering refunds to players regardless of how much time they spent playing.
Some players are getting refunds even after 50 hours
In fact, some on PSN are claiming to have received refunds even after putting 50 hours into the game. Just contact customer support on Steam, Amazon, and PSN and ask for a refund. A Redditor by the name whaaatcrazy claims that he tried for a refund after seeing someone do it on twitch. He also claims that some people were able to get a refund after trying several times.
The Reddit post further clarifies that since a lot of people are now asking for refunds, many are being denied so he encourages them to use a manual support ticket. Steam has put up a notice saying “The standard Steam refund policy applies to No Man’s Sky. There are no special exemptions available. Click here for more detail on the Steam refund policy.”
That the cat’s out of the bag and everyone knows they can get a refund now so many of these services have started denying refunds. However, you should definitely try to get a refund if you were unsatisfied with the game.

On August 9, No Man’s Sky was released on consoles and, later, on the PC. The game plagues with technical issues and there was an outcry over missing features particularly the promised multiplayer. No Man’s Sky is another example of a developer lying to the gamers to generate hype only to become the butt of all jokes later on, much like Peter Molyneaux back when he made exaggerated claims about the Fable game.
