Reliance Jio is still to roll out commercially in the market and it has already taken the market by storm through its mind-boggling preview offer. The Reliance Jio Preview offer can be availed through a variety of ways like purchasing a LYF smartphone or a high end-Samsung smartphone or by purchasing a JioFi MiFi device. Reliance Jio Preview Offer promises unlimited downloading, voice/ video calling and SMS services over 4G LTE for a period of 90 days. However, this isn’t all amazing as it sounds as many users have reported experiencing Speed Caps and Speed Throttling issues just a few days after starting services. it seems like after a user crosses a certain usage limit, Jio puts cap on the speed.
Although Jio Customer Care clearly specifies that ‘there is no cap on speed or data usage and the problem is due to the server from which content is being downloaded or streamed’. But we faced no such problem while using other popular 3G or 4G networks like Airtel, Vodafone, Idea or Reliance from the same server.
There are some basic speed throttling issues with Jio, for example, some apps like Google Play and Youtube runs just fine but the same doesn’t go with other apps. Users have also complaints regarding the downloading speed but the browsing speed seems just fine. Also, there are some speed cap issues when directly content is being downloaded, although no such problem arises when clients like torrent are used. Jio users seem apparently displeased with the ‘Preview Offer’ which promised unlimited 4G internet as the company is intentionally throttling speeds.
Although not much can be done about it but if you are facing speed capping issues, here are few things which you can always try. These have worked in many cases and might work for you too. Just follow these steps:
Step 1: Firstly, ensure that you are connected to Band 4O for the best speed.
Step 2: Download and install all the Jio apps. Install MyJio app and then select ‘INSTALL ALL’.
Step 3: Reconfigure your APN in the following way. APN Name: Jionet, Authentication: None, APN Type: Default, supl; Bearer: LTE. Leave out the rest unchanged and reboot your device.
Step 4: If you’re using LYF smartphones, defer updates and prefer USB Tethering over WiFi hotspot.
We’ll soon come out with more ways to fix this issue, till then stay tuned to MobiPicker for more news and updates from the tech world.
