Apple launched their smartwatch, Apple Watch, last year. The company has a trend of improving their models each year. So if Apple keeps up the trend, we can expect the Apple Watch 2 very soon, probably this coming September.

New reports suggest that the Apple Watch 2 will have a slimmer design and use OGS instead of the glass-on-glass touch panel technology.

A lot is not clear about the specs of the upcoming Apple Watch 2. However, a report from Digi Times, citing TDK, indicates that Apple Watch 2 will have One Glass Solution, instead of the glass-on-glass touch panel. TDK is Apple’s display supplier. Glass-on-glass touch panel technology is popular among smartphone manufacturers.

The OGS will create more space inside the watch. The Apple Watch 2 is thus expected to be slimmer. However, some speculate that the extra space may be used to accommodate a larger battery to address the battery life complaint by many customers.

Speaking of battery, the Apple Watch may feature an OLED display, according to Inquirer.net. The OLED display will help save battery life since users do not have to turn off the screen after looking at the time.

The Apple Watch 2 is also rumoured to sport inbuilt GPS and cellular connectivity. The former will be particularly useful to runners as they will track their runs without needing to use their iPhones. For the moment these are just speculations, there is not information leak from Apple to confirm these predictions and rumours.

Like the iPhone 7 and MacBook Pro 2016, the Apple Watch 2 is expected to launch this fall in September.
