Korean tech giant Samsung has already confirmed the release date of its upcoming flagship device Samsung Galaxy Note 7. The Note 7 will be unveiled at an event in New York City on 2nd August 2016 commencing at around 8:30pm IST.

Skipping the name ‘Galaxy Note 6’ and directly opting for ‘Samsung Galaxy Note 7‘ created a lot of intrigues and many theories were forwarded to justify Samsung’s action. But Samsung put all these wild goose chases to rest itself by answering this. According to Samsung, it opted the name Galaxy Note 7 instead of Galaxy Note 6 to bring the note-series nomenclature in harmony with its S-series nomenclature. Now, both of its premium offerings, the S-series and the Note-series will have a unified numbering, thus avoiding any confusion.

Another major news which has just arrived from Korea is that the Galaxy Note7 will be released on 2nd August itself, i.e., the same day of its announcement. Samsung had never done this until now with its Note-series devices and it usually started shipping the flagship device a week or so later to the announcement date. But, it seems that this time round, the shipping will begin on the same day as the announcement. The major reason which is being accredited to this is the soon approaching 2016 Rio Olympics. Samsung is one of the major sponsors of the event and Samsung wishes to capitalise on this as much as possible.

Also, keeping the iPhone 7 launch in September in mind, Samsung would love to give the Galaxy Note 7 a good enough time to establish its dominance in the market and hence this haste in the release. Please note there is no official confirmation on this, so readers are advised to take it with a grain of salt until Samsung confirms it officially.
