E3 2016 is basically Christmas for gamers. It’s got good news, surprises, drama, announcements and so on, and it’s usually a happy time. Elder Scrolls fans, however, will have to be content with just one gift coming their way: the remastered version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Todd Howard, game director at Bethesda has confirmed that we won’t be seeing The Elder Scrolls VI any time soon.

Geoff Keighley over at YouTube Live at E3 had a chat with Todd Howard (via Kotaku), where he straight up asked if there was going to be an Elder Scrolls VI. Howard replied that it is, and that it’s also “a very long way off”. He also explained that it is “something that is going to take a lot of time” for what they have in mind for the game. According to Howard, the team has a “pretty good idea” of what the game will be, but that they don’t have technology and time for it right now.

Bethesda fans however, need not be disappointed: Bethesda Game Studios is already working on two other large-scale projects that are “bigger than anything” they’ve done in the past, and that we’ll most likely hear about them before The Elder Scrolls VI. There’s currently no info on what these games might be like, but it could be a safe bet that they’ll also be open world RPGs. Let us know what you think about this in the comments below.
