MacBook Pro 2016 is one of the most-awaited notebooks of the year, and there are loads of rumors about it on the internet. Many well-known industry experts and analysts have been making predictions about the upcoming laptop, and many excited features are expected from the upcoming two new MacBook Pro models.
We have collected the latest rumors and predictions by analysts and have complied them together to bring you the 10 features that we should expect from the MacBook Pro 2016.
1. Thinner and Lighter Design
As reported by 9to5Mac, famous analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI Securities has predicted that the next iteration of the MacBook Pro will be sporting a lighter and thinner design as compared to its predecessor. It is being said that Apple will take hints from the design cues of the 12-inch MacBook, and that should result in a sleek and stylish Pro model.
2. Touch ID in MacBook Pro 2016!
The same report suggests that the Touch ID fingerprint sensor seen on the iPhone might make its way to this year’s MacBook Pro release. It was earlier being said that the 2016 MacBook Pro might get Touch ID support through iPhone, but new reports say that Apple may just add the physical Touch ID hardware to the new laptops.
3. OLED Display Touch Bar
Analyst Kuo has also said that the new Pro models this year will be seen sporting an OLED display touch bar right above the keyboard. The new touch bar will be a replacement for the physical function keys that sit on top of the keyboard, and Apple might add some exciting gestures or more functions to it.
4. Metal Injection Molded Hinges
Another rumor says that the new ultra-thin MacBook Pro will come with a new hinge design. Apple will use metal injection molding to make the hinges stronger but thinner, thus helping in the overall thinness of the notebook. The new hinges will be stronger and more durable.
5. USB Type-C and Thunderbolt 3
Again, to make the MacBook Pro 2016 models thinner than ever, it is being said that Apple will provide only USB-C ports on both the sides of the laptops. Not only that, Thunderbolt 3 will also be included. These two features together will provide faster charging and even faster data transfer speeds.
6. 6th Gen Intel Skylake Processors
Apple used the new Skylake CPU for the first time in the MacBook 2016, so there’s no reason why this latest processor won’t be used in the 2016 MacBook Pro models. The new processors will not only be faster but will also increase the battery life. Many rival companies have already adopted Skylake, which is why Apple will do it too.
7. New Keyboard and AMD/Nvidia GPU
The new MacBook Pro 2016 will be getting new AMD/Nvidia GPUs that will be faster and will provide better performance than the previous Pro models. Also, Forbes reported that the new Pro models might get a new keyboard that uses a Butterfly mechanism, just like the one in the new MacBook 2016. The keys are larger and thinner and provide better typing accuracy along with increased typing speed.
8. Thinnest MacBook Retina Display
The new 12-inch MacBook uses a 3-million-pixel display that is 0.88 mm thin, which is crazily thin! It is the thinnest Retina display Apple has ever made, and it has been manufactured with a new process so that the 0.5 mm edge-to-edge glass sits flush. There’s more brightness but the use of LED’s provides 30% more efficiency, thus resulting in better battery life.
9. Increased Battery Life
Owing to the new Skylake processors, new GPUs, and a better display, it is highly likely that the MacBook Pro 2016 models will get more battery life than the 2015 models. The current 15-inch model has been rated at 9 hours of wireless use, while the 13-inch model gets a 10 hour rating for wireless use. If Apple manages to provide the 12 hour rating of the 13-inch MacBook Air, it would be a huge improvement even if users get 10 hours of real usage.
10. MacBook Pro 2016 Release Date Delayed?
Until now, it was believed that Apple might launch the new 2016 MacBook Pro models at the WWDC 2016 in June. However, a report by MacRumors says that the new notebooks will now be launched in the fourth quarter of this year. So the launch date should be anytime between October to December. The company will launch the iPhone 7 in September, so November-December seems a more probably timeframe.
Let’s wait and see how many of these things turn out to be true. Leave your comments below.
