Red Dead Redemption 2 looms closer and closer as Take Two interactive has announced that Rockstar Games is “hard at work on some exciting future projects that will be revealed soon” (via iDigitalTimes). Take Two has also previously said that they will be present at E3 “in a big way”, despite having only two announced titles on their slate: Mafia III and Sid Meier’s Civilization VI. This hints towards unannounced projects, possibly from Rockstar Games.
A number of rumours have suggested that a Red Dead Redemption sequel is indeed under development, and we have rounded up the ones we could find in a previous post. The most substantial of these rumours comes from a leaked map for the game. Surprisingly, the map appears to hint at a crossover between Red Dead Redemption 2 and the upcoming Mafia III. It would seem that we are going to explore the city of “New Bordeaux” through both the mid-19th and mid-20th centuries.
Interestingly, Take Two uses the word “future projects” in the plural, suggesting that Rockstar Games has more going on than just a possible sequel to Red Dead Redemption 2. It would obviously be too early to learn about GTA 6, but could we instead see a sequel or spiritual successor to L.A. Noire? Maybe we’ll see the long-awaited return of stealth action game Agent, which was announced in 2007?
Let us know what you think we’ll be seeing at E3 this year in the comments below.
