While the Nexus highlight of this year is going to be the HTC Nexus 2016 that will be released before the third quarter ends, pure Android fans are also waiting for the Nexus 7 (2016) that is rumored to release thus month at the Google I/O event. According to TechTimes, that the tech giant will launch the next iteration of the Nexus 7 tablet on 18th May, which is a little over a week away.
The last time Google updated the Nexus 7 tablet lineup was in 2013, and since then, no new version of the device has come out. The latest version was running Snapdragon S4Pro with 2GB RAM and 16GB/32GB internal storage. If the new rumors are to be believed, then the upcoming 2016 Nexus 7 tablet will be the first device to run Android N out of the box.
A Yibada report says that Google has partnered with the Nexus 6P-maker Huawei for the manufacturing of the Nexus 7 2016. The tablet is expected to come with improved specs like a 7-inch Quad HD resolution screen, 4GB of RAM, and the latest Snapdragon 820 chipset. It is also possible that the tablet might get NVIDIA’s Tegra X1 processor along with a 3000mAh battery.
Android N to Get Better Security Against Stagefright
Google has stated that Android N will be coming with security features to help avoid Stagefright vulnerabilities in the new version of the OS. The level of access that software bugs can have will also be restricted for better security. An example of the security is that the tech giant is dividing mediaserver into individual parts, so camera will be accessed only by the cameraserver, and other pieces will go with their similarly-functioning features.
Nothing else is known right now, and Google hasn’t confirmed any of these rumors yet. However, the Google I/O conference is just some more days to go, and it will not be long before all the details we are waiting for will reveal themselves. Stay tuned!
