Nintendo is gearing up to launch a new console soon. Very soon. According to a number of sources, ‘soon’ can mean Holiday 2016. This comes a mere 4 years after the launch of the previous console by Nintendo, the Wii U, whose performance hasn’t exactly been stellar. Will the upcoming console, the Nintendo NX, turn Nintendo’s fortune around?
According to popular rumours, the Nintendo NX will unify both the handheld and home console arms of Nintendo to deliver a device that will replace both the 3DS and the Wii U. Supposedly the NX will be available in two SKUs, a home console and a portable one, and the two will presumably interact with each other.
With the Wii U being rather underpowered compared to current-generation consoles, Nintendo will likely take the power route this time around and produce a device that can match the performance of the Xbox One and the PS4. This would ensure a stream of third-party titles for the console, giving Nintendo some much-needed revenue.
When it comes to launch games, rumour has it that The Legend of Zelda Wii U will be one, and another will be Call of Duty: Bloodlines, the supposed next game in the Call of Duty franchise, developed by Infinity Ward. The source of this rumour also had a number of juicy details to share regarding the Nintendo NX, such as the console having an HDMI dongle, a powerful new operating system comparable to Android and haptic feedback on the controllers.
