Motorola had sent out the Lollipop update very quickly to a lot of devices, but the Motorola DROID Turbo took longer to get updated. However, the DROID Turbo 2 might not have to wait longer for the next major update, as Verizon and Motorola have started the Marshmallow soak test for the device. Of course, as compared to a lot of other phones in the market, the DROID Turbo 2 is getting behind in the Marshmallow schedule, but it is still faster than the DROID Turbo received Lollipop.

The Motorola DROID Turbo 2 Marshmallow update soak test works in this way- some of the users who signed up on Motorola’s feedback network get selected by the company, and the update is sent out to them some days before the public roll-out. Such soak tests are meant to catch any bugs or issues or performance problems that might have been missed out by the developers. This is the final software and will be released to all the users once the soak test is completed.

If you have been selected for the DROID Turbo 2 Marshmallow soak test, you will receive notifications for downloading two OTA updates. Once both the OTAs are installed, the software version on the DROID Turbo 2 will bump up to 24.14.10. Many users have already received the Android 6.0 Marshmallow soak test OTA and are testing it out, though we don’t know how good the update is. Soak test is the last step before public release, so users should brace themselves for the Marshmallow update on their DROID Turbo 2.
