We are already past mid-Feb and a lot of high-end smartphones including flagships haven’t received the Android 6.0 Marshmallow yet. The last statistics had reported that only 1% of all the Android phones in the world ran on Marshmallow, which does not inspire a lot of confidence. While LG, HTC, and Samsung have started rolling out the Android 6.0 update for their eligible phones, Sony is still behind in the competition.

Sony Xperia Z5 series android marshmallow udpate news

Xperia users have been waiting in impatience since quite a lot of weeks now, but thanks to a promising tweet from Sony’s British arm, the wait seems to be nearing its end. According to a new tweet by official Sony Mobile GB, the Xperia Z5 series, Z4 Tablet and Z3+ will start receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update from 7th March.

As you can notice in the tweet, the words used are “set to”, which suggests that the Sony representative who typed this tweet wasn’t confident enough about the date of commencement of the roll-out. It is hard to trust the tweets made by such representatives, and 7th March seems to be a tentative date. Having said that, we at least have a date to look forward to.
Meanwhile, Sony’s Marshmallow beta program is running in full swing and is receiving positive reviews from the testers. So we can expect the final Xperia Marshmallow update to be nicely polished. We hope that the 7th March update isn’t confined to Britain and is released to other countries as well.
