If the rumours are to be believed then, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Meizu is very likely to bring its new Ubuntu powered phone at the Mobile World Congress to be held in Barcelona next week.
The rumours have sparked because of a teaser launched by Meizu which clearly indicates the same. Although there is no official statement about the release of the device, but if sources are to be believed then we will get to see a new Ubuntu-powered Meizu device at the MWC 2016.
If this turns out to be true, then it won’t be the first time that Meizu is launching a Ubuntu-powered device. If users would recall, then back in 2014, Meizu had launched Ubuntu MX3 and we can also vividly remember the launch of Meizu MX4 Ubuntu at last year’s MWC. So the tryst of Meizu with Ubuntu is not something new and shouldn’t be much surprising.
However, we don’t have any official announcement yet and the specs of this device are also unknown. Reports, however, suggest the release of the rumoured Pro 5 Ubuntu Edition. The teaser only says that the device will be revealed on February 22nd, i.e., during the MWC 2016. So take this news with a pinch of salt and wait for the official announcement. We have our fingers crossed and till then, Adios.
