Major smartphone companies have already released the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for some of their flagship devices in a few regions. But Samsung was still behind in this race, until now. If you have been waiting for the Galaxy S6 Marshmallow update, the wait comes to an end. Samsung has released Android 6.0 Marshmallow for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, and this is a global roll-out.
In case you don’t remember, the company had already started rolling out the Marshmallow update for Galaxy S6 in Poland, and South Korea. But today, Samsung is rolling out the update internationally. If you own the Samsung Galaxy S6 or the Galaxy S6 Edge, you should receive the update notification soon. As this is a global roll-out, not every device will receive the update immediately. Some phones might receive it a day or two later. You can even check for the software update manually through the Settings menu.
If you are using a Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge with a carrier, then there’s no specific news for you. This roll-out is only for the international unlocked versions of the phones. As for the carrier-bound phones, the carriers themselves decide the date for update roll-outs. But we do expect all the carriers to release the Marshmallow update for their S6 and S6 Edge devices by the end of this month.
The new Galaxy S6 Marshmallow update brings new features like Now on Tap, Doze, new app permissions, etc. The Galaxy S6 Edge Marshmallow upgrade makes the edge screen more beautiful by adding more functions to it. The Edge screen is now more customizable so that you can view more content on it. You can add up to ten apps on the edge screen as quick shortcuts as well as folders. Tasks Edge has been updated and there’s the new Quick Tools that comes with a compass, flashlight, and a ruler. You can even customize the transparency, size, and place of the edge handle. Yahoo and Samsung has collaborated to bring headlines, sports news, and latest stock prices to the edge screen directly.
