Fallout 4’s Pip-Boy app debuted last year alongside the long-awaited game, and has been available on both iOS and Android. But now it seems the app can also be run on Android Wear, allowing you to run the app on a wristwatch.
According to Ryan Kelly, who is seen using the app in the above video, the Pip-Boy app cannot connect to the actual game itself as the watch in question, an LG G Watch running Android Wear 5.1.1 does not have a Wi-Fi radio. The app also appears to run in landscape mode, which is no fun at all. But then, Reddit user /u/Ante0 stepped in, tinkering with the app’s APK to make it run in portrait mode. Take a look at it now, functioning like a proper, wrist-mounted Pip-Boy:
What do you think? It’s not quite the same thing as the hefty bit of plastic that came with the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition but it certainly looks like a miniaturised, highly futuristic version of the otherwise clunky and cumbersome Pip-Boy, that’s for sure. Perhaps it could even give Bethesda some ideas. With Fallout 4 DLC yet to come, there’s plenty of time for Bethesda to consider porting their Pip-Boy app properly to Android Wear.
