Pokémon GO is an augmented reality game set to hit Android and iOS soon. The game which is developed by Niantic has attracted much attention since its first announcement came in September 2015. In December of the same year, Niantic opened up on how the game would work but that seemed to be the major announcement ever since.

Now a recent report from Ibtimes has revealed that a number of spam websites have emerged in the past months hoodwinking unsuspecting fans to reveal private information including email address. The worrisome trend prompted The Pokémon GO Company to release a statement dissociating itself from it. The statement which was released in Japanese and roughly translated to English reads;

“With regard to the beta test of Pokémon GO, not have been anything announcement now. As soon as they are about the new information, it will be announced in the Pokémon GO official site.”

Pokémon GO game will allow players to catch and train Pokémon so that they can use it in the battle against other Pokémon trainers. The game is also expected to come with an optional wearable device, Pokémon GO Plus, which can be synchronised with the mobile device using Bluetooth. The wearable device will notify players when a Pokémon is around so they can catch them.

The CEO of Niantic, John Hanke, will be at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) holding in San Francisco, California where he will reveal more information about the game and possibly the release date too. However, a recent rumor from Neurogadget claims that the game might be released on February 27th.

This statement from The Pokémon Company is a clarion call on fans to be careful to avoid opening up themselves to harm. How do you think is the best way to fight these internet scammers?
