Lenovo K4 Note is selling like hotcakes, thanks to the exclusive features that Lenovo has bestowed to the phone. However, it seems the company doesn’t want to make any delays in expanding the K series, as the Lenovo K5 Note was launched in China a few days back.
But is the K5 Note better than the K4 Note? Not much has been revealed about the K5 Note, but we’ll take the what-we-know-now specs and pitch them against the K4 Note. Let’s begin.
Lenovo K4 Note vs K5 Note
Looks and Display
The Lenovo K4 Note was expected to get a full metal body, but it gets a plastic body with a metal frame. Well, that’s not bad at all, and the phone looks decently good. The chrome camera+fingerprint module along with the silver metal frame gives some life to the phone, and the front facing dual speakers too help in making the phone look good.
Coming to the Lenovo K5 Note, this one gets a full metal body. The placement of the camera module and the fingerprint sensor has been altered, and there’s a round-shaped fingerprint sensor instead of a square-shaped one as in the K4 Note. There are no dual front-firing speakers on the K5 Note though, and this phone bears a striking resemblance to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.
Both the Lenovo phones get the same 5.5-inch FullHD IPS screen with 401ppi and Gorilla Glass 3.
Processor, Memory, Battery, Software
The K4 Note features a 1.3GHz octa-core CPU and gets 3GB of RAM. However, the K5 Note features a faster 64-bit 1.8GHz octa-core processor, though it only gets 2GB of RAM. Both the phones come with 16GB of onboard storage that’s expandable up to 128GB. The battery might remain the same for both the phones at 3300mAh capacity. Both the smartphones get Android 5.1 Lollipop with Vibe UI pre-installed.
Camera and Sound
The K5 Note and the K4 Note come with the same 13MP primary camera at the rear with PDAF, f/2.2 aperture, and a dual-tone dual-LED flash. However, the K5 Note gets a better 8MP camera at the front as compared to the 5MP front camera of the K4 Note.
One of the best features of the K4 Note are the front-facing dual speakers that support Dolby Atmos. However, the K5 note just gets one strip of speaker at the back without Dolby Atmos. Need we say more?
Extra Features
The Lenovo K4 Note gets the TheatreMax technology, which along with the AntVR headset, gives you a big-screen viewing experience right on your phone. The phone gets an inbuilt VR mode that allows you to convert any regular content to VR content. We don’t know yet whether the K5 Note will get this feature, but if it doesn’t, then it will be a serious deal-breaker for the K4 Note.
Price, Availability, and Verdict
The Lenovo K4 Note costs around $177 and has started selling in India via Amazon flash sales. However, the K5 Note is available only in China as of now CNY 1,099 (approx $167) and there’s no news when it will reach other regions.
The Lenovo K4 Note is the clear winner here with all its specs and features. But if you must have a metal phone and can sacrifice on other awesome features, then go for the K5 Note.
