The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are considered different products of the Samsung. The differences lie in a number of factors ranging from their built-in quality to the features they both have. Even the way their major Android OS update is being handled is done differently from one another. Unlike the past few years, Samsung commenced a beta testing program offering customers, in a selected market, the ability to update their phones to Android  6.0 Marshmallow.

According to a recent report by Sammobile, the two devices will be treated equally by officially being updated to Android 6.0.1 for customers in Samsung home market of South Korea. At the time of writing this article, the new updates process is still under development and therefore, the details we have about it is very limited. It is being said that both the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge on SK Telecom and KT are receiving the Android 6.0.1 update. It is not yet clear whether LG U+ has also begun the rolling out process of the firmware. The firmware build date for both the carriers is January 22nd, but the time stamps are different.

Once the Galaxy S6 users in South Korean start receiving the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update, it will be probably just a matter of days before the international roll-out process begins for all unlocked models. The United Kingdom, in particular, was also involved in the beta testing program, therefore, users in UK should be expecting to be among the first to receive that update.
