Remember the Nextbit Robin cloud-centric phone we told you about? It all started with a Kickstarter campaign, which went on to be very successful. The phone debuted in September 2015 and was initially priced at $299, and all the units were sold out. The price was then increased to $349, and that tier got sold out too. Finally, the phone was put on pre-order for a price tag of $399.

NextBit Robin

Finally, after months of wait, the shipping date for the Nextbit Robin has got closer. The first 1,000 people who supported the project on Kickstarter will receive their Nextbit Robin phones in 16th February, announced Nextbit. However, only the GSM version will be shipped this time, while the CDMA model will be shipped later this year.

For those who don’t know, the Robin is the first cloud-centric phone with 32GB of internal storage and 100GB of cloud storage. It takes a backup of all the data, multimedia, and apps and saves it in the cloud storage, but only when the internal memory starts running out. So the stuff is deleted from the phone, but can be restored from the cloud backup. The whole process is supposed to be seamless and will not require the interaction of users.

Other specs of the Nextbit Robin include a 5.2-inch FullHD screen, Snapdragon 808, 13MP camera with dual-LED flash and PDAF, 5MP front camera, 3GB RAM, NFC, Type-C USB, fingerprint scanner, front-firing stereo speakers, and more.
