Asus unveiled the Zenfone Max back in August 2015 during the company’s ZenFestival in India. The company has now launched the smartphone in India and is available for pre-order through Amazon and Flipkart. Priced at Rs. 9,999, the phone will be shipped starting January 14 and January 15 by Flipkart and Amazon, respectively.
In terms of specifications, the Asus Zenfone Max is built around a 5.5-inch IPS display with HD resolution and Gorilla Glass 4 protection. Powered by the Snapdragon 410 chipset with quad-core 1.2GHz processor, it packs 2GB of RAM and 16GB built-in memory.
Running Android 5.0 Lollipop with Zen UI 2.0 on top, it features a 13-megapixel primary camera along with a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter. It packs all standard connectivity features including 4G LTE, dual-SIM, Bluetooth etc.
The main highlight of the Asus Zenfone Max is its whopping 5,000mAh battery, which is said to deliver 38 hours of talk time and up to 914 hours of standby time. The battery is non-removable and can act as power bank too.
With the massive battery capacity, the Zenfone Max will fight against the several smartphones with a similar battery. The Lenovo Vibe P1 features a 4900mAh battery for Rs. 15,999, Gionee Marathon M5 packs a 6,020mAh battery for Rs. 17,999 and the Gionee Marathon M4 offers a 5,000mAh battery for Rs. 15,499. Though all the phone features almost similar batteries, the Zenfone Max beats all the available devices for its budget-friendly price, that is just Rs. 9,999.
Commenting on the launch and pre-booking, Peter Chang, Region Head – South Asia & Country Manager for ASUS India said, “Timed perfectly with the new year, ZenFone Max takes our vision of providing luxury at an affordable price further. It combines a powerful battery with an innovative camera making it the perfect utility product for users who demand performance at all times. We are sure the phone will be appreciated by our patrons and take us a step closer to repeating the success we saw last year.”
