Fairphone 2 was unveiled in June this year and is popular for sporting a modular design. Just like the original Fairphone, this sequel comes with components that are sourced from conflict-free mines. The good news is that shipping of the Fairphone 2 has already started in Europe.
The announcement was made by Fairphone in their blog post. Douwe, Fairphone community manager, said,”It’s been almost two years in the making, and some of the earliest buyers have been patiently waiting since July to receive their new phones. As community manager, I want to personally welcome the new batch of Fairphone owners to our community.”
The company expects to ship 1,000 units this month, while the rest of the pre-orders will be sent out in January next year. The Fairphone 2 is only available in Europe as of now and costs around €525 ($574).
The Fairphone 2 features a Full HD 5-inch display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 801 processor coupled with 2GB RAM of RAM. The dual-SIM device comes with a microSD slot and offers 4G LTE support.
