The Lenovo K3 Note has been a hot seller in the budget phablet market, and its direct contender has been Xiaomi’s highly successful, sales-record-breaking Redmi Note 2. However, Xiaomi has just recently updated the phablet and has launched the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.
But is the Redmi Note 3 capable of winning the budget war against the Lenovo K3 Note? Let’s do a compare and find out.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 vs Lenovo K3 Note
Design and Aesthetics
In its conquest to make a killer budget phablet, Lenovo perhaps forgot that looks do matter to the budget buyers. The plastic shell of the Lenovo K3 Note does not stand a chance against the premium-looking metal body of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. The K3 Note doesn’t look bad and is decent enough for its price, but the Redmi Note 3 is a better choice for those who want to stand out in the crowd.
Display
The Redmi Note 3 and the Lenovo K3 Note both flaunt 5.5-inch Full HD screens. There’s not much difference here.
Processor
The Redmi Note 3 features a 64-bit octa-core Helio X10 SoC clocked at 2.0GHz along with a PowerVR G6200 GPU. But the K3 Note only gets a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor with Mali-T760 MP2 GPU. The CPU in the Redmi Note 3 is a shade faster and can make a lot of difference if you are an avid gamer.
Memory and Software
Both the phones come with 2GB of RAM. The Lenovo K3 Note gets 16GB internal memory expandable up to 32GB. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 3 doesn’t get expandable memory but offers a 16GB as well as a 32GB variant. Both the phablets come pre-installed with Android 5.0, though Xiaomi’s MIUI interface is more loved.
Camera
The Lenovo K3 Note and Redmi Note 3 both get 13MP/5MP camera combos. But the Xiaomi phablet gets a f/2.2 aperture, which is better for wider-angle photos and low-light photography. The K3 Note gets f/2.0 aperture and dual-LED flash, while the Redmi Note 3 features dual-tone dual LED flash.
Battery and Extras
The Redmi Note 3 gets a huge 4000mAh battery, while the K3 Note makes do with a smaller 3000mAh battery. So the Xiaomi phone is the winner here.
Both the phones are 4G enabled, but the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 gets a fingerprint sensor which the Lenovo phablet misses out on.
Price & Verdict
The Lenovo K3 Note is a great budget phablet and can be bought for around $165. However, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is a more premium and better offering than the Lenovo phone in most of the areas and will be a smarter choice than the K3 Note on any day.
So the winner of this comparison is obviously the Redmi Note 3. If you are impressed by the phablet and want to buy it, you can get it from GearBest. The 16GB version of the Redmi Note 3 costs $179.79, while the 32GB version retails at $209.79.
