A couple of days ago, we had reported that Sony has started working on the Xperia Z6 and the smartphone would be coming in the second half of 2016. And today, a new source (name withheld) has tipped us some information regarding the Sony Xperia Z6.
According to our source who claims to be closely associated with the distribution network of Sony Mobile Communications, the Sony Xperia Z6 may carry a pressure-sensitive display. What this means is that Sony will be incorporating its own version of the Force Touch technology in the Z6. For those who don’t know, a pressure-sensitive display allows you to perform various quick actions or access quick functions by applying different amount of pressure on the touchscreen.
Given the trend and demand for this new feature, this can be a great revival move for Sony, which has been facing significant losses in the smartphone market this year. Regarding the display resolution, it is is highly possible that the Xperia Z6 will carry a 2K (QHD) screen. The phone is expected to be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC.
Even though we cannot trust the source completely, the information isn’t illogical at all. In fact, major companies like Apple and Huawei have already released Force Touch-enabled smartphones, with Samsung to follow soon. So the inclusion of this technology might give a fresh boost to the Xperia series. We expect Sony to skip this feature in the less costly Z6 compact for obviously a money-saving price tag.
We expect more details about the Xperia Z6 to leak out soon as the phone passes some development stages.
