The smartphones belong to QiKU, a joint venture between a Chinese Internet company named Qihoo 360 and the handset manufacturer Coolpad. The company announced on Friday that it will begin selling phones in India, namely, they are focused on launching the QiKU Terra 808 and the Terra 810. The phones don’t have only great specs, they also offer a secure payments option using a dedicated VPN.

QiKU Terra 808, QiKU Terra 810First things first: QiKU Terra 808 is fueled by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SOC, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of inbuilt internal storage. It also has not one, but two 13-megapixel Sony shooters with an aperture f/1.8 at the back, and an 8-megapixel camera on the front.

The QiKU Terra 810 wears a 6-inch QHD (1440×2560) display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt internal storage. Camera-wise, it’s on the same front as the above-mentioned counterpart. The smartphone also carries a 3700 mAh battery. The company said that they will reveal the full specs and the final price when the phones will be launched.

In China, however, the Terra lineup featuring high-end handsets, is priced at an equivalent price of $314, which is around Rs. 20,700. The company also runs a Luna lineup, consisting of entry-level handsets. But QiKU didn’t say anything regarding the fact whether they will be selling those handsets in India or not, but we’ll just have to wait and see, won’t we?

QiKU Terra 808 and Terra 810 both run a Qihoo 360 OS, which is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop, coming with additional security features. Together with the secure payments feature we mentioned above, the smartphones also let users remotely disable the lost phones, even if they have no Internet connection or no registered SIM card. Its users can also conceal confidential information and documents on the phone, using a unique personal access code.
