Asus CEO Jonney Shih recently confirmed the existence of the next generation of Zenfone series smartphones, namely the Zenfone 3. According to a report by Trusted Reviews, Jonney Shih was asked about the plans of including USB Type-C port in his smartphones, to which he said – “I think Type-C is the way to go, frankly speaking. You will see the answer when you see the ZenFone 3.”
Mr. Jonney did not reveal any more specifications or upcoming features. Also, there is no clue when the Zenfone 3 smartphones will be released in the market. But going by the previous records, the original Zenfone was introduced early last year, while the Zenfone 2 was made official early this year. So an educated guess suggests that we can see the next generation of Zenfone smartphones in the early 2016.
According to PhoneArena, the Zenfone 3 smartphones will be available in low-end, mid-range, and high-end variants, similar to the Zenfone 2 family. However, it is not sure whether or not all these variants will carry the USB Type-C port.
