Motorola has joined the bandwagon of Google Android hardware partners who are getting the Marshmallow 6.0 upgrade. This comes as great news from Motorola, and nearly all its devices are going to get the upgrade soon (time still not known).

The update also depends on the carriers who need to approve the same, but at least Moto users are assured that they will be the next in line after the Nexus devices to get the new OS. A forum post also reveals that AT&T and Verizon have stated that the Moto X from last year will not be getting the upgrade for some unknown reasons.

Motorola, Android 6.0 , Android Marshmallow, upgrade, Moto featuresFor the time being let’s check the devices in line for the super upgrade. Here are the details below:

2015 Moto X Pure Edition (3rd gen)

2015 Moto X Style (3rd gen)

2015 Moto X Play

2015 Moto G (3rd gen)

2014 Moto X Pure Edition in the US (2nd gen)

2014 Moto X in Latin America, Europe and Asia2 (2nd gen)

2014 Moto G and Moto G with 4G LTE2 (2nd gen)

DROID Turbo

2014 Moto MAXX

2014 Moto Turbo

Nexus 6 (Google’s 2014 handset built by Motorola).

Surprisingly the Moto E is missing in the list because of the fact it is a low budget phone and doesn’t have great hardware specifications.

We also find that Motorola has removed some of its native features, because of some better software upgrades in Android 6.0. For example, Moto Assist won’t be available in Android 6.0 upgrade, because its own Do Not Disturb functionality will do the work of not interrupting you during meetings or sleep hours. The Moto Migrate functionality is also removed since Android M has improved backup and restore functions. Also joining the exit, is the Motorola Connect extension in Google Chrome because many users now prefer top messaging services instead of SMS. Motorola will give more details on the time of upgrade in the coming weeks.
