Apple loves to boast about winning switchers on its earning calls and its presentations, and once again, it has lived up to its reputation by launching the new ‘Move to iOS’ Android app. This comes as a tool for people planning to switch over to the iOS system. The Android App was unveiled yesterday along with the iOS 9 (What’s New in iOS 9).
This newly introduced app can’t be all-inclusive. After all, the environment and app stores for iOS and Android are different. Besides, all purchases made in Google play won’t apply to the App Store. Still, the ‘Move to iOS’ app can transfer contacts, texts, pictures, videos, email accounts and calendars from your old phone to the new one.
While you are setting up your iDevice, you get a new option to transfer data from the Android phone. This will generate a 10-digit code that you type into the Move to iOS app on your Android phone. The two devices now establish a connection through a private Wi-Fi network and prompt you to select the data you want to transfer. Once the transfer is complete, your device may ask you for the password to any e-mail accounts that were transferred.
This application is supported on all phones and tablets running Android 4.0 and above. Unfortunately, those with older Android devices planning to switch over won’t be able to do so using the app.
Obviously, Apple wouldn’t release an Android app if it didn’t have any profit from it. The Move to iOS platform makes it extremely easy to transfer data for the new Apple folks coming in after abandoning Android.
