We have heard about the Force Touch technology for quite some time now, and the iPhone 6s and Huawei Mate S have already been released with this feature. However, many other companies obviously want to join the Force Touch trend, and among them seems to be ZTE.
You might know that ZTE has an unreleased smartphone with a pressure-sensitive display in its kitty. Called the ZTE Axon Mini, this smartphone was announced in July and was supposed to launch at the IFA 2015 as the first smartphone with Force Touch technology. However, ZTE failed to reach there first and the Huawei Mate S and iPhone 6s came out before it.
However, it looks like the smartphone is now picking up its pace; some leaked pictures of the ZTE Axon Mini have made their way to the internet through the Chinese micro-blogging site, Weibo. In flesh, the design is somewhat similar to the previous Axon models. The bezels are almost non-existent on the sides while the upper and lower ends of the ZTE Axon Mini house the speakers. There are no physical keys; the Android smartphone has virtual keys.
The back of the Axon Mini has a nice matte finish and sports a 13 MP primary camera with LED flash. There is a fingerprint sensor right below the flash. An 8 MP front-facing camera accommodates selfies and video calling. Moreover, a 3.5mm jack can be seen at the top, while the volume keys are at the left of the device. Although the lock/power key isn’t visible in the images, we expect it to be just above the volume keys.
Configuration-wise, the ZTE Axon Mini has a 5.2-inch 1080p Super-AMOLED screen from Samsung and, as mentioned, the display is pressure-sensitive and provides Force Touch. Under the hood is a 1.5GHz eight-core processor and we expect it to be the Snapdragon 615. The phone has a 3GB RAM and 16GB of expandable memory. It supports 4G and runs the latest Android 5.1.
The price has not been revealed yet, but could be set around 2000 Yuan, which is roughly around US$315. It is worth noting that the phone has already passed the TENAA certification with model number Axon B2015, so we expect the ZTE Axon Mini to be launched soon.
