The popular Chinese tipster, @KJuma, has posted a pair of renders purportedly depicting the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 phablet.

Analyzing the pictures, it seems that the device has a physical home button that might also be utilized as a fingerprint scanner. There is speculation that this could be Qualcomm’s Sense ID Ultrasonic bio-metric recognition technology, which was unveiled in March earlier this year.

The picture showing the rear of the Mi Note 2 reveals that the device sports a dual-camera. We believe one could be for the general picture while the other may be used for the depth of field. This permits post-production changes in the focus of pictures, similar to what you’d get with the HTC One (M8).

xiaomi mi note 2 renders, leaks, dual camera setup, specsOther information suggests that the Mi Note 2 will have a 5.7-inch display with a 2K resolution. The Snapdragon 820 chipset will power the phone, using the quad-core Kryo processor and the Adreno 530 GPU. The primary camera is said to be a 23MP unit, with a 12MP shooter in front. There could be two storage variants of the device – 32GB and 64GB – along with 4GB of RAM. Running Android 5.1 Lollipop with MIUI, the smartphone will be powered by a 3,500 mAh battery.

There is no word about when the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will be showcased, but its release depends directly on when the Snapdragon 820 chipset comes out. According to rumors, the S820 will not be seen until end of this year. This means that smartphones powered by the upcoming chipset will not be released before the first quarter of 2016, at least.

Although the tipster has a good track record regarding smartphone leaks, it is wise to take the news with a grain of salt until we hear the official confirmation.
