The Qualcomm Snapdragon 620 chip was benchmarked on Geekbench back in June. Despite being in the mid-range category, the processor managed to impress all with its surprising performance. Now, a mysterious smartphone powered by Snapdragon 620 has reached the GFXBench, showing more details on its Graphics performance.
The phone features a Full HD display, S610 SoC, Adreno 510 GPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of native storage, a 13MP rear camera, and an 8MP front-facing camera.
From the GFXBench data, we can easily observe that the new Adreno 510 processor is far better compared to the older Adreno 405. In the off-screen Manhattan evaluation, it reached 13 fps while in the T-Rex evaluation, it managed to reach about 31.2 fps, which is fairly good for a mid-ranger. Given the leaked information, however, the Adreno 430 still supersedes the Adreno 510.
Qualcomm has already revealed several parameters of the upcoming chipset. The Snapdragon 620 will come with quad Cortex-A72 cores, and quad Cortex A53 core, which may hit an ideal balance between efficiency and functionality. It supports 4K video recording, X8 LTE modem, and Hexagon V56 DSP.
Unlike the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chip, which is less powerful, the S620 is anticipated to take the performance to a new level in the mid-range devices.
Sadly, Qualcomm hasn’t yet declared when the new Snapdragon 620 chips will hit the markets. We need to wait for some more time to know of the performance in the real world.
