It was with great fanfare that the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium was announced last week as the very first smartphone with a 4K resolution display. However, sadly, the 2160 x 3840 resolution can only be used for a restricted number of applications. For the rest, the smartphone features a display with 1080 x 1920 FHD resolution only.

Evidence of this was spotted on the GFXBench site where the phone is recorded as having a FHD display. Based on a report published today, the 4K display would only work for pictures and videos. When playing games, the display reverts back to a Full HD resolution.

During the performance check of 3D Graphics, it was also revealed that the Xperia Z5 Premium runs at a reduced frame rate than its siblings. The Xperia Z5 Compact appears to have a top-notch 3D Graphics performance, running at 37.8fps during the Manhattan Evaluation. Meanwhile, the Xperia Z5 ran at 18.8fps and the Xperia Z5 Premium  at 18.7fps.
