The Snapdragon 820 is the latest processor from Qualcomm and its capabilities have taken many of us by surprise. A smartphone called Green Orange X1 Pro has the Snapdragon 820 running under its hood, and when it was tested on the AnTuTu benchmark test, the score obtained was an astonishing 83,774. One possible reason behind the score could be the fact that the smartphone that was tested had a 1080 x 1920 screen resolution instead of a 1440 x 2560 QHD display, which can cut the score.

Qualcomm has made the Snapdragon 820 with its own 64-bit Kryo CPUs based on ARM. If Qualcomm’s claims are true, the Snapdragon 820 SoC will offer double the power efficiency and performance of the Snapdragon 810 chip. For those who are wondering when the new Snapdragon 820 will come out, the first phone to carry this new chipset, according to rumors, is the Xiaomi Mi 5 releasing in March 2016.

The Snapdragon 820 SoC has an octa-core CPU along with Adreno 530 GPU, and its direct rival is the Helio X20 chip from MediaTek with a deca-core CPU.

The Green Orange X1 Pro, the phone that the benchmark test was carried out on, comes with a 4 GB RAM, 64 GB of internal storage, a 16 MP rear camera, and a pre-installed Android 4.4.2 software. Will the Snapdragon really be as successful as it seems to be on this one phone? Stay tuned to find out!
