Amazon has brought a new firmware update for its 4th-Gen Kindle Fire HD 6, Fire HD 7 and HDX 8.9 tablets. The firmware having built number 5.4.2 will allow the users to download Audiobooks to their microSD card.
In addition to bringing general performance enhancements and improvements, this update also allows users to add multiple profiles on their tablets and the audiobooks which are downloaded to the microSD card will only be available to the profile that downloaded it.
You can update your device in very easy steps. First of all, save the downloadable package given below on your PC and then connect your tablet to your PC via USB cable and transfer the .bin file from the package to the root folder of your Kindle’s internal storage. Make sure that you’ve transferred the file to the root folder only and nowhere else and only disconnect your Kindle once the transfer is complete.
After this step is complete, navigate to Settings > Device Options > System Updates and then choose ‘Update’ to initiate the update process. Your Kindle will restart now and will show an ‘Installing system update’ message. Make sure that your Kindle is well charged and don’t interrupt the process. Now sit tight for some time and you’ll have an updated Kindle.
