Reliance Jio Welcome Offer has been embraced by many users in India. Nobody wants to miss the goodies the welcome offer provides – high-speed internet, SMS, and video calls. When the welcome offer was launched, it came with December as the expiry date. With just about 60 days remaining before the welcome offer ends, Reliance Jio has indicated that the welcome offer will likely be extended for three more months post-December. Which means, the Welcome Offer will be active until March 2017.
Reliance Jio has had a rough start ever since the launch of the Welcome offer. With over 5 crore call drops reported in the first week of launch alone, users began to complain about connectivity issues. Those who enjoyed speeds up to 30Mbps as part of the exclusive Preview Offer were left disappointed by a drastic reduction in internet speeds. In fact, Reliance Jio speeds hit an all-time low of less than 9Mbps in September, after the launch of Welcome Offer. It looks like Reliance needs some more time to fix all the issues that are troubling Jio users. Considering all these aspects, many are speculating that the offer may be extended until March 2017 to enhance user satisfaction.
There are three primary reasons why Reliance Jio Welcome Offer could get extended to March 2017 –
1. Increasing Number of Users Increases Jio-to-Jio Calls
Now, even if you wish to make full use of high-quality free voice calls on Jio network, you cannot. Because competitors like Airtel, Idea Cellular, and Vodafone have refused to co-operate to provide the necessary infrastructure support. One of the ways to tackle this problem is to get more and more users on Jio network. With this as the goal, the offer is highly likely to get extended to March 2017.
2. 100 Million Customers Target Yet To Be Achieved
It’s not a joke to add 100 million customers in just a few months. And yet, Reliance Jio has taken up this ambitious task as its goal and is focusing on adding 100 million customers to Reliance Jio network in the next two or three months. As of today, 25 million customers are already part of the growing Jio network. Adding 3 times more the existing customers is not a simple job. Reliance Jio needs a good two or three months to achieve this target. And so, to attract more customers and reach its target, Reliance will most likely extend the Welcome Offer until March 2017.
3. No Conflicts with TRAI
It’s a well-known fact that Ambani’s 45-minute speech that day wiped out 12,000crores for Airtel, Vodafone, and Idea Cellular. The fact that Reliance Jio is offering free services as part of Welcome Offer and also that it is giving away SIMs for free has been widely opposed by competitors. However, Telecom and Regulatory Authority of India has raised no objection so far to Reliance’s free offers. This could be yet another potential reason why Reliance Jio will likely extend the Welcome Offer until March 2017.
