#2: NieR: Automata
Last year’s surprise announcement from Square Enix, NieR: Automata is the sequel to the original NieR, and is being developed by PlatinumGames, who were responsible for games like Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Despite the change in developer, the game will still be directed by the director of the original, Taro Yoko.
An action RPG, NieR: Automata will follow a proxy war between machines and the remnants of humanity. The protagonist, interestingly, will be an android, known by her designation: 2B. She will be accompanied by fellow androids 9S and A2. While the game will focus mainly on action, also expect a return of role-playing elements as found in the original NieR.
NieR: Automata is expected to release later this year, and we will probably see more of it at E3.
