Lenovo-owned Motorola has started sending invites for a product launch event on Feb 26, a day before MWC 2017, and many expect this to be the next G from Moto, the Moto G5. This year too, Motorola is rumored to launch 2 variants of the Moto G – the generic version Moto G5 and an enhanced variant Moto G5 Plus.
If a recent rumor is to be believed, Motorola is planning to launch the device first in the Indian market, just after the announcement in Barcelona. As reported by iGyaan, the smartphone will be on sale in the Indian market as early as March.
Even though there isn’t any credible source for this info, we believe the rumor holds significance, as the company has been doing the same for last two years. Both Moto G3 and Moto G4 went on sale in India first, before hitting other countries. While the Moto G3 was a Flipkart exclusive, the Moto G4 saw a deal with Amazon. Hence, it will be interesting to see which online retailer get the latest Moto.
Motorola has seen a significant growth of 60% Year-on-Year in India so it justifies their positive approach towards the market.
Moto G5 Plus Specs and Price
According to various sources, Motorola Moto G5 Plus will come with 5.5-inch full HD display, fingerprint sensor, Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS, Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core CPU, 4GB RAM, 32GB/64GB inbuilt storage, 12MP primary camera on the back, 8MP front snapper and a 3,080mAh battery.
The smartphone is expected to cost around Rs. 14,999 ($220/€206), which will make it one of the best phones under 15000.
As far as the generic Moto G5 is concerned, no details are available. However, one can expect it to feature a less capable camera with other specs remaining the same.
We will update this space once more info surfaces, till then all we can do is wait for the MWC 2017 to see the light on Moto G5 and its variants.
