Manjaro Linux LXQt has been providing a community flavour of the famous Linux Operating systems for some time now. The developers of the Manjaro community have just announced the release of Manjaro Linux LXQt 16.03.

Reported by Marius Nestor of Softpedia, the Manjaro Linux LXQt 16.03 uses the same build of the Manjaro Linux which is already in use in the Manjaro Linux Cinnamon 16.02 and the Manjaro Linux Deepin 16.03 operating systems which were announced just a few weeks ago.

The Manjaro Linux LXQt 16.03 is powered by the well trusted Linux 4.4.4 kernel and it also includes the latest version of the next-gen LXQt desktop environment which is based on the very lightweight LXDE project using the Qt technologies.

The new OS includes the latest Calamares graphical installer by default and also includes an updated version of the CLI installer. The repositories have now been synchronized likes the one in the Manjaro Linux distribution.

Developers said, “The Manjaro Community is proud to present our new LXQt Edition. Manjaro Linux LXQt aims to be light, fast and resource friendly, yet at the same time complete and ready to use for all typical everyday office- and multimedia-needs.”

There are a lot many new features in the Manjaro Linux LXQt 16.03, but the most prominent addition includes the Octopi graphical package manager, Manjaro Settings Manager, SDDM login manager and web browsers like Chromium and Mozilla Firefox. It also includes HexChat IRC client.

Users will also get the latest versions of qpdfview PDF viewer, Transmission-Qt BitTorrent client, GIMP image editor, LXImage-Qt image viewer, AbiWord word processor, PCManFM-Qt file manager and mpv video player among others.

Among the alternatives to the mpv video player, there is SMPlayer video player. The default sound server is PulseAudio and it includes Pavucontrol for controlling the mixer. Many other tools like QasTools, RedShift, GParted, Xsensors, Compton and LXTask have also been included.

The ‘Print Screen (PrtScr)’ has been finally configured to take screenshots and the 64-bit version of the OS Manjaro Linux LXQt 16.03 also includes many non-free drivers.
